Land acknowledgement

We acknowledge that Mount Shasta is situated on the traditional and ancestral lands of numerous indigenous tribes, including the Achomawi, Atsugewi, Karuk, Klamath, Modoc, Shasta, Okwanuchu, Wintu, and Yana peoples. Known as Úytaahkoo, or "White Mountain," this sacred site holds profound cultural, spiritual, and historical significance for these communities. Mount Shasta is revered as a central figure in their traditions and spiritual practices, representing a deep connection to the land and their heritage. We honor and respect the enduring legacy of these indigenous peoples and their ongoing relationship with this sacred land.
