Ayurveda translates as Science of Life. Originated in Ancient India, it has been practiced continuously for 5,000 years, evolving to address health concerns of our modern times and adapting to local bio-regions. Ayurveda is often referred as the "Mother of all Healing," as the manifestation of divine creative intelligence making itself available to support us in maintaining health in our journey towards higher states of consciousness. As such, Ayurveda is known as a Sister Science to Yoga.
The healing practices of Ayurveda are based on the energetics of the 5 natural elements: earth, fire, water, air and either, which when combined form the 3 primary biological regulators that govern all aspects of our body-mind complex. These 3 primary biological regulators, referred as DOSHA, are: VATA, PITTA and KAPHA. Combined in specific ratios, they form one's innate and unique life lasting constitution starting from the time of conception. Under basic principles of natural law and the recognition that all living things are comprised of 5 elements and governed by DOSHAS, Ayurveda places great care in maintaining DOSHIC balance through proper diet, lifestyle, correct mind set, herbs, body therapies and Yoga recommendations particular to your body-mind type.
Our DOSHA determines not only our unique physical constitution by also our psycho-emotional characteristics, serving as a guideline on how we as practitioners support you in achieving health and sustained vitality. To find out what your unique Ayurvedic constitution is, it is important to see a Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner who through an in-depth health intake, pulse reading and physical examination can help you determine your DOSHA.
