WE ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE LAND ON WHICH SHAKTI SHAKTI OPERATES IS SITUATED WITHIN THE ANCESTRAL AND UNCEDED TERRITORY OF THE NATIVE HAWAIIAN PEOPLE. THIS LAND IS PART OF THE BROADER ARCHIPELAGO KNOWN AS THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS, WHICH HAVE BEEN INHABITED AND CARED FOR BY THE KANAKA MAOLI, THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF HAWAII, FOR GENERATIONS UPON GENERATIONS.
ANAHOLA, SITUATED ON THE ISLAND OF KAUAI, HOLDS A DEEP AND SIGNIFICANT CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL CONNECTION TO THE KANAKA MAOLI. THE LAND IN AND AROUND ANAHOLA IS NOT ONLY THE SOURCE OF SUSTENANCE BUT ALSO THE REPOSITORY OF ANCESTRAL KNOWLEDGE, CUSTOMS, AND TRADITIONS. IT HAS BEEN A PLACE OF GATHERING, STORYTELLING, AND THE PASSING DOWN OF WISDOM FROM ONE GENERATION TO THE NEXT.
WE ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE KANAKA MAOLI CONTINUE TO MAINTAIN THEIR DEEP SPIRITUAL, CULTURAL, AND PHYSICAL CONNECTION TO THIS LAND DESPITE THE HISTORICAL INJUSTICES AND CHALLENGES THEY HAVE FACED. THE EFFECTS OF COLONIALISM, LAND DISPOSSESSION, AND FORCED ASSIMILATION PERSIST, YET THE RESILIENCE AND STRENGTH OF THE KANAKA MAOLI ENDURE.
AS WE BENEFIT FROM BEING ON THIS SACRED AND BEAUTIFUL LAND, WE COMMIT TO HONORING AND RESPECTING THE KANAKA MAOLI, THEIR HERITAGE, AND THEIR ONGOING CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE WELL-BEING OF HAWAII AND THE WORLD.
WE STRIVE TO BE MINDFUL OF THE COMPLEX HISTORY AND PRESENT-DAY ISSUES FACED BY INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES AND TO WORK COLLABORATIVELY TOWARD JUSTICE, EQUITY, AND HEALING. WE EXPRESS OUR GRATITUDE TO THE KANAKA MAOLI FOR THEIR STEWARDSHIP OF THIS LAND AND FOR ALLOWING US TO BE GUESTS AND PARTNERS IN THEIR ANCESTRAL HOMELAND.
MAY WE ALL ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN THE RESTORATION OF HARMONY, RESPECT, AND JUSTICE IN OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LAND AND ITS ORIGINAL INHABITANTS.
WITH HUMILITY AND RESPECT,

Ayurveda translates as Science of Life. Originated in Ancient India, it has been practiced continuously for 5,000 years, evolving to address health concerns of our modern times and adapting to local bio-regions. Ayurveda is often referred as the "Mother of all Healing," as the manifestation of divine creative intelligence making itself available to support us in maintaining health in our journey towards higher states of consciousness. As such, Ayurveda is known as a Sister Science to Yoga.
The healing practices of Ayurveda are based on the energetics of the 5 natural elements: earth, fire, water, air and either, which when combined form the 3 primary biological regulators that govern all aspects of our body-mind complex. These 3 primary biological regulators, referred as DOSHA, are: VATA, PITTA and KAPHA. Combined in specific ratios, they form one's innate and unique life lasting constitution starting from the time of conception. Under basic principles of natural law and the recognition that all living things are comprised of 5 elements and governed by DOSHAS, Ayurveda places great care in maintaining DOSHIC balance through proper diet, lifestyle, correct mind set, herbs, body therapies and Yoga recommendations particular to your body-mind type.
Our DOSHA determines not only our unique physical constitution by also our psycho-emotional characteristics, serving as a guideline on how we as practitioners support you in achieving health and sustained vitality. To find out what your unique Ayurvedic constitution is, it is important to see a Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner who through an in-depth health intake, pulse reading and physical examination can help you determine your DOSHA.
